Dog sledding in Winter

Experience the amazing nature of Northern Norway while leading your own dog team!

Our dogs are always eager and will happily take you on a journey through our beautiful and untouched nature. Experience the Norwegian wilderness and the famed northern lights.

During the trip there will be a break by the fireplace where you will be served warm drinks and lefse (traditional Norwegian pastry). During this break you have the opportunity to get to know our dogs better, all of them love cuddles! 

Included: hot drink and snack by the fire
Please bring: clothes and shoes adapted to weather

This tour is conducted by Arctic Guide & Visit - the real experience located in Dyrøy. Experience the amazing nature of Northern Norway while leading your own dog team!

During the trip there will be a break by the fire where you will be served hot drinks and lefse (traditional Norwegian pastry). During this break you have the opportunity to get to know our dogs better, all of them love cuddles.

Guided Tour: Viking Age

The tour starts at Dyrøy Holiday on the island of Dyrøya. We walk to the costal fort “Hagenes” three kilometers on the road built by the Russian prisoners during World War II. 

There you can experience remnants of the coastal fort: bunkers, fallow walls, cannon positions and escape tunnels. We will tell the tragic story of the Russian prisoner Alex who tried to escape several times, and how the people of the island Dyrøya experienced the World War II.

The guide will show Viking tombs and stone age tufts. The tour ends at a beautiful pebble beach with spectacular views of islands Andørja and Hinnøya.

The tour is suitable for all ages, for families with strollers as well as wheelchairs. We bring a lunch pack of local specialties to the guests.

Guided Tour: History through 250 years

This fascinating trip starts at Vinje, island of Dyrøy. The trip goes through a beautiful cultural landscape where you can see the architectural style history over the last 250 years.

The guide will tell you a story of the people leaving and farming on the island and about the world-famous platinum fox that originates from this island. We will see the pebbles that were used in building of a famous Norwegian medieval church, as well as the stone age tufts, and Viking finds.

Further, the road goes under steep, high cliffs where eagles often nest. The guide will tell tales of the stones we pass. The trip ends at the secluded village of Berg – used as a film location for a famous Norwegian film.

Guided Kayak Trip

This tour is conducted by Arctic Guide & Visit - the real experience located in Dyrøy. Kayaking is an amazing way to experience the North Norwegian nature.

You can move without making a sound, becoming one with nature in a unique way. Because of this, animals can be studied up close without disturbing them. This is truly an amazing way to breathe and relax, while getting an unforgettable nature experience.

Meeting point is at our farm at Finnefjell, where we will hand out all necessary equipment needed for kayaking. Together we will decide where todays kayaking trip will take place, taking the weather and wind conditions in consideration. Before the kayaking starts, we will give you an introduction on kayaking. No experience required. 

Included: basic training, kayak and drysuit, all required safety equipment, hot drink and "lefse" (traditional sweet Norwegian pastry)
Please bring: woolen inner layers to wear under the drysuit, an extra change of clothing, lunch pack and cold drink
